My first international venture made with the love of my life
January 6, 2006
Kyoto, Japan
My father is in the hospital. Three paramedics couldn't help him stand; they used a sheet to move him to the gurney and rushed him off.
He was in so much pain that they gave him morphine before they could take ex-rays. Somehow he broke his ribs; the cancer is growing; he is getting weak.
My father has built up a tolerance to some of medicine's most potent painkillers. When I was visiting three weeks ago he showed evidence of a tolerance to both Oxycodone and Ativan; I don't know how they would wean him from these pain killers. If he keeps taking morphine his end is near.
